Day 5
With the daylight quickly fading and the temperatures spiraling downward, the early evening hours open me up. The longing of silence pulls me once again. One candle, one whispered prayer. Another candle, another intention is set. As each candle offers its light, the darkened room takes on a special glow. In this still and silent space, my muscles relax, my mind quiets down, and my breathing is deliberate and measured. Here in the safety of my circle, I am comforted by the unwavering flames and the soft glow of the lighted tree. Meditation now calls me to the depths of my inner sacred temple where I can explore the shadows once again. Once there, I can contemplate the messages they offer and explore ways to foster my light.
There are many early stories of how life and civilization began. First, there was darkness. It is a vast and expansive void where the unknown awaits before we can begin. The churning energy of chaos and nothingness, where there is no form to see, let alone understand, is a place where we may find ourselves. What do we see when we open ourselves to this space? What happens when we bring our single flame to offer hope and creation to ourselves? It is a chance to learn about who we are in these quiet days before we can send our light out into the world. It is our physical reminder to seek what is our potential in this life. A light begins our process to create something. It is a way for us to make our way from the depths of the unknown and grow within the warmth of the light.
Where are you right now upon your path? What will you find as you spiral into your depths and reflect upon what can be? When you do bring forward a candle flame into the darkness? What is revealed? What is offered as a thread of potential?
May you travel well along this winding and sometimes darkened road.
